Cultural figures express condolences over death of President Raisi, local officials
TEHRAN-Iranian cultural officials have, in separate messages, expressed condolences over the death of President Ebrahim Raisi and Foreign Minister Hossein Amir Abdollahian along with a number of local officials in a tragic helicopter crash in the northwest of the country.
Minister of Culture and Islamic Guidance Mohammad-Mehdi Esmaeili offered his condolences to the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution, the people of Iran, and the families of the deceased and said: “On the birth anniversary of the eighth Imam, we solemnly mourn the loss of the great servant of Iran, President Ebrahim Raisi and his esteemed companions who have dedicated themselves to serving the people of this great nation”.
“For years, I had the honor of learning from and collaborating wholeheartedly with President Raisi across various domains. I witnessed his practical and theoretical efforts, and sincere service to the beloved people of Iran. His integrity in action, honesty in speech, wisdom in planning, and commitment to the people, even in challenging circumstances, are just a few remarkable qualities of Ayatollah Raisi’s exemplary character. His absence is deeply felt by all enlightened thinkers and justice advocates,” he added.
In another message, the head of Iran’s Islamic Culture and Relations Organization (ICRO) Mohammad-Mehdi Imanipour condoled the martyrdom of the president and his delegation and said: “The news of the passing of the devoted and hardworking President Ebrahim Raisi along with his esteemed companions has reached us, causing indescribable sorrow and grief. He selflessly dedicated himself to serving the people, remaining steadfast in this noble mission until his last moments”.
In his message, the director of the National Library and Archives of Iran Alireza Mokhtarpur said: “I extend my condolences to the entire faithful people of Iran and Muslims worldwide on the passing of Ayatollah Ebrahim Raisi and his esteemed companions.
“The heartfelt concern and prayers that emerged from the depths of our souls during the challenging hours that befell the Iranian nation reflect the recognition, appreciation, and gratitude of all honorable citizens for their genuine service. A servant who dedicated every moment to selfless duty passed away on the night of the birth anniversary of Imam Reza (AS). May his memory be revered, and may his path forever inspire all the servants of this country”.
Many artists in various mediums including actors, filmmakers, graphic designers, singers, authors, and TV presenters have also offered their sincere condolences over the tragic incident on social media.
The helicopter carrying the president and his companions crashed on Sunday during the president’s visit to the East Azerbaijan Province. The incident occurred as a result of dense fog in the region.
Foreign Minister Hossein Amir Abdollahian, governor of East Azarbaijan Province Malek Rahmati, and Friday prayer leader of Tabriz Ayatollah Mohammad Ali Ale-Hashem were also aboard the chopper.
Following the traffic incident, five days of national mourning have been declared in the country. Moreover, according to the Public Relations Center of the Ministry of Culture and Islamic Guidance, all cultural and artistic activities throughout the country will be canceled for seven days.
